Walking by Faith in an Unusual Situation

Walking by Faith in an Unusual Situation

Matt. 14:25-32

  • The word walk in the Bible often symbolizes the way we live, the way we act, and the way we conduct ourselves in a certain way.
  • To walk by faith is to live in the confident expectation of things that are to come.
  • To walk by faith requires that we become familiar with the promises that God has given to us. 10:17
  • Faith pleases God and without faith it is impossible to please God. 11:6

As we take a closer look at Peter’s walk of faith, there are four things to consider:

  1. The Success in the Walk – Vs. 29
  • Peter began his walk on the water by faith in the Word of the Lord.
  • We can always step out on the Word of God.
  1. The Sinking in the Walk – Vs. 30
  • Peter took his eyes off Christ and instead put them on the circumstances.
  1. The Saving in the Walk – Vs. 30
  • Out of all that Peter had been through, he still had enough faith to pray through.
  • Out of all that you have been through, do you still have enough faith to pray?
  1. The Scolding After the Walk – Vs. 31
  • Peter’s faith was small, but at least he had enough to walk as far as he did.
  • What Peter needed was more faith to complete the walk.
  • Do we need more faith to complete our walk? If so, be like the apostles in Luke 17:5 “Lord increase our faith.

Faith is confidence that God will do whatever God has promised.
