Things To Become That Does Not Cost Money

2. Be an Encourager
Romans 12-5-8 lists seven gifts God has distributed to his people. Among them is the gift of
encouragement.

One character that is an encourager was Barnabas.

Barnabas was called Son of Encouragement. Acts 4:36

Barnabas had a nephew named John Mark. Barnabas encouraged John Mark to go with them on a trip,
but difficulty arose. We are not told what it was.

When Paul and Barnabas got ready to go on the next trip, Barnabas wanted to take John Mark again,
but Paul refused. So, they split. Barnabas took John Mark, and Paul chose a new partner Silas. We
don’t hear from John Mark again until later.

Paul was in prison, writing to Timothy with instructions about coming to visit him. He said get Mark and
bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry. 2 Tim. 4:11

Some people seem to have the gift of showing you where you went wrong. Others have the gift of
encouraging you to do better, to try again.

One place you ought to find the encouragement you need is in the Lord’s church.

We should never leave church discouraged. The church should be a place where the hurting, the
burdened, the discouraged and the broken can find healing and encouragement.

Many of the greatest successes of our day would not be where they are if not for an encourager in their
lives.

It doesn’t cost money to be and encourager. It pays great dividends.
