The Tongue Can Get You Into A Lot Of Trouble

Someone said, “Don’t put your tongue in motion before your mind is in gear”.  That’s good advice, but we often talk before we think it through.

Someone else said, “He that talketh by the yard, but thinketh by the inch, should be kicked by the foot”.

Story was told about an old rich dying man who said to his young wife, when I die, I want you to get married again.  You are young and beautiful, and you have your whole life ahead of you.

Nonsense she responded.  He kept on telling her I want you to give your next husband all my clothes.  I want him to look good when he takes you out.

She responded to him not to talk that way.  It is impossible.  He replied what is impossible about that?  She responded you’re a 38 regular and he’s at least a 44 long.

Did I say the tongue could get you in trouble?

James talks about the tongue in James 3:1-12.  He says in vs. 8 – The tongue can no man tame, it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

The wrong tone of voice causes much of the friction in our daily lives.  So don’t give people a piece of your mind.  You may have given too much of it away already.
